Have you guys tried making the HTML changes in the text doc itself—the original? Using some find replace you can encase all paragraphs in p tags and single-returns appended with br /, then copy paste straight into the HTML box. That’s the only thing that ever works for me.

(Thanks, Emma. This might save us a lot of time in future, too, if it works.)
Yep, that’s what I did last night, and with the first interview, too! Hence what I said in Private Communication about “a bit of cunning find-and-replace.” e.g.: finding all the bolded “PT”s and replacing them with <p><b>PT</b> and letting Tumblr itself close the <p> tag, as opposed to just bolding all instances of “PT,” which bolds the “pt” in shit like “tempt” and “kept.”
And the <br> still amends to <br />. (And the <b> to <STRONG>, which makes an excellent Homestuck joke, if a poorly-placed one.)
Well, <br> —> <br /> is normal, and <b> to <strong> is both normal and best practices (because, like <em> instead of <i>, it’s the accessible/screenreader version of the tag) but it’s so weird that that then erases the formatting?? W T actual F.
The other thing is if you put the list in bullets (copy paste, select all, click bullets):
- TA: who ha2 the biigge2t tiit2 on the ca2t.
- TA: how biig are they.
- TA: would you 2ay, le22 or more biig than my head.
- TA: de2criibe the 2oftne22 ratiio of the2e tiit2.
- TA: what ii2 the cultural attiitude two the2e poor maliigned tiit2.
- TA: ehehehe, cultural at ‘tiit’ ude.
- GC: HON3Y PL34S3 STOP
and then—still with everything selected—click the bullets tag again—
TA: who ha2 the biigge2t tiit2 on the ca2t.
TA: how biig are they.
TA: would you 2ay, le22 or more biig than my head.
TA: de2criibe the 2oftne22 ratiio of the2e tiit2.
TA: what ii2 the cultural attiitude two the2e poor maliigned tiit2.
TA: ehehehe, cultural at ‘tiit’ ude.
GC: HON3Y PL34S3 STOPit displays as desired?
Aughhh, that doesn’t work either.
I’m 99.9% sure it’s a problem with the layout itself—like how the pages for the ask box and submit straight-up didn’t appear, so I had to work around it and link to the ask box and submit thingum themselves. Meanwhile, PT and I are too fucking stubborn to change it. I’m probably still going to wrangle the CSS for the post <ul>/<li> tags into submission later, though.
